Legendary Gastein gold mountains

From Nassfeld, 1,580 metres (Gastein valley) to Kolm Saigurn, 1,550 metres (Rauris Valley): A valley connecting footpath full off myths and legends.

Beside the wonderful views of the gold mountain groups, the participants will find out interesting things from now & then; survival strategies of animals and plants in these extreme living conditions.

The crossing that separates the Pongau and Pinzgau County is at a height of 2.226 metres. After the descent into the Rauris valley, enough time remains to pop into an alpine hut for refreshments. A steep path through the” natural jewel-Rauris jungle“ takes us to the car park “Lenzanger“, where a minibus will take the group back to Bad Gastein.

The traces of the gold diggers are ever present in the eastern Tauern – the Gastein and the Rauris valley–. Celts and Romans already searched here for the treasures of the high Tauern. During the whole hike witness ancient times, like dry walls, stockpiles, tools and transport facilities from a past mining era. Long forgotten miners have mined here under harsh conditions in their search for gold and silver.

This mountain hike crosses the forest border. The trails are sometimes along steep alpine paths. Climbing or walking boots are necessary! Good physical condition is necessary.

Suitable for children from 12 years onwards.
